The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Park Slope voted in an Assembly Meeting to allow sexually active gay and lesbian members to become clergy if they are in a committed relationship. Previously, gay and lesbian members were required to be celibate.
David Parsons, co-chair of the Commission for Gay and Lesbian People in New York for the Evangelical Lutheran Church, supports the change, and has been working on this since 2001.
